    Portugal is a country that you can visit all year around. Each region has more favorable periods for visiting:
    The North: Colder than the rest of the country it is very pleasant during springtime and autumn.

    Portugal has also managed to preserve its traditions as time passed. While visiting Portugal you will discover a traditional country, that values its old ways, craftwork, and unique music genre: Fado.
  10. How is Portuguese food?
    LWhen we think about the Portuguese gastronomy the first thing that comes into mind is « Bacalhau » (codfish) that is a very important part of the Portuguese cuisine. Our gastronomy is very rich in flavor and meals are traditionally made of 3 courses:
    • soup, that is a very important part of the meal ;
    • a dish made of fish or meat, often accompanied by rice and/or potatoes.
    • and a dessert or fruit.

    Here are some dishes and desserts that one must taste when visiting Portugal: Caldo verde ( a very typical green cabage soupe ), Bacalhau com natas ( Codfish with cream) , Bacalhau à Brás ( codfish mixed with fries and eggs), Caldeirada (fish soup), Sardinhas grelhadas (grilled sardines), Feijoada (meat with beans accompanied with rice), Cozido à portugesa (a Portuguese way stew ), Carne de Porco à Alentejana (Pork with clams accompanied with fries, or rice, the Alentejo’s way).

    Desserts: Pastel de nata (cream custard pastry, sprinkled at taste with cinnamon ) , queijadas de Sintra (Portuguese Cheese Tarts With Cinnamon), Arroz doce ( sweet rice cooked in milk).

    The tourism industry is very recent in Portugal, as a result, most structures are modern and bear good quality.

    Portugal has good connection highways and roads form north to south, we have very modern highways connecting all the country.

    The main portuguese traditions are : our folklore, the Fado, the « Azulejos » (ceramic tiling), our porcelain, pottery and gastronomy.

    No, most portuguese people know a bit of English.
  16. Are there good airway connections ? And by earth?
    We have very modern airports from north to south and good worldwide airway connections.
    As for earthbound travelling, we have a good network of highways connecting all the country.
  17. What’s the time difference in Portugal?
    In Lisbon and all of mainland Portugal, the time during the winter months is equivalent to GMT or UTC time (the same as in London or Dublin) and during the summer it is GMT+1. Therefore, you need not change your watch if arriving from the UK. If you're coming from Spain, it is one hour earlier in Portugal, and from the United States' east coast (New York), Lisbon is 5 hours ahead.
    Daylight Saving Time (DST) or Summer Time starts on the last Sunday in March when the clocks go forward one hour. Winter Time starts on the last Sunday in October when the clocks go back one hour. This is in accordance with the rules of the European Union.
